I need a cheap Socket 778 board for my E6400. None to minimal overclocking in this board. It will be a media server using the E6400 and 2gb of Mushkin RAM. Built in video would be a plus and HDMI would be a real plus.

Any suggestions?

Your requirements are somewhat vague. Do you have a price in mind? I'd recommend a G43 or G45 solution, for the reasons of great CPU support, 8GB or more of RAM and a nice selection of available RAM and FSB speeds.

It depends on what you mean by a cheap board. If you want something for less than $60, it's doable, but that board won't have much option for future expansion, and may not have an Intel chipset.

The P35-DS3L is a really nice board.

If you want real, working video with HDMI on an Intel IGP, then you need a G45 like this one.

However, I've heard of some problems with 24p and some other things on G45 (too lazy to google myself), so a cheap Radeon 4350 with HDMI or DVI + HDMI Adaptor might prove to be better.

then if you want basic stuff now those 2 will do... then when your ready for a standalone with more power add one in.

Thanks! I'm going to try my local computer shop tomorrow or Wed. Hopefully they still carry ASRock.
