so i was going to buy a 500$ cell phone. but then i thought about how nice it would be to have a laptop. and i'm pretty sure i'm sold on one. but i've never really looked into them since i never saw one as an option. i don't know which processors pack a nice punch, yet aren't too power hungry. and so on..
i know there's always going to be "well this brand laptop is better than that brand laptop" and whatnot.
here's what i'm looking for:
something in the price range of $500-600ish dollars. i can easily upgrade ram, so it doesn't have to be packed with ram.
a decent processor, good battery life... wifi (and if possible one of those "wifi antenna jack ports"), standard USB ports, bluetooth if possible, but doesn't "HAVE TO" have it.
cd/dvd burner for those "just in case" moments.
screen size isn't too much of an issue as long as it's 15+ diag.
i don't care much for vista, so i might put XP and or linux (to learn), Ethernet jack.

i know that's alot, but i was looking on bestbuy's website and walmart and found alot of things.

edit: i'm not a gamer, so i don't need anything in that department, just mainly web, watching movies, and prolly photoshop here and there

thanks,
mai0f

Check out the Dell outlet, you can usually catch a deal there. Be careful with the door buster laptops. They are usually crippled in more than one way, sub-par Celeron CPU, very weak batteries, etc. But that BB deal looks pretty good.
