Im upgrading my vista hd from a 80gig sata wd 8mb to 640gig wd black 32mb cache..ill be ghosting my 80-640..my question is if i ghost it to the faster drive will i yield better os performance..since im using an image...ie performance in games video encoding etc...thanks for your responses..

Yes. The new HDD is a lot faster, and you should notice it.

Even the transfer speed should be fast as it is ghosting over....

from reviews i see fast performance and price per gig is sure worth it..what does OC think?

Yeah, that drive is one of the fastest 7200rpm drives available. You should be very happy with it.
The difference in cache will help some, but the MUCH higher aerial density of the 640GB drive makes it much faster. It can read a lot more bits w/ every rotation of the platter b/c the bits are packed in there so much more tightly.

I have the 1TB version of that drive...I love mine. You should be quite happy with your purchase.
