What is the ultimate 8500 cooler & ramsinks, I've heard many opinions but the only one to catch my eye was I think a Alpha.
I also need the best ramsinks. I found these little copper ones but their £30 for 8!!!
I want my 8500 to be as fast as possible, just wish my WBK38 wasn't so heavy....
Opinions!!!
Everyone have a :beer:

ULTIMATE 8500 cooler
waterblock and 120watt tec for gpu and waterblock for memory:)
I've seen a GPU-Water cooling rig for video cards where they had adjustable tabs to put it in and they cover all the ramsinks as well.
I saw this for the Asus GeForce 3 though the V8800 or something like that.

Watercooling is always pretty good. Do a search around these forums and the main site and you'll know how to in short order :). Otherwise, an Alpha Wingfin sink, or a 1u HSF will work well. For RAM, get some small heatsinks and use silicone glue in the corners of them to hold it on, with Arctic Alumina in the chip area to provide thermal conductivity (note that the silicone IS thermally conductive pretty well, so use what you need to hold it up!).

An IU rackmount cooler is the second best solution after H2o cooling (http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.html?i=1571&p=2)
Only problem is that on an 8500 you will have to MOD (http://members.home.net/broadbandland/Orb/alphacut2.jpg) the iu cooler with a dremel to make it fit on the 8500.
:eh?:

Thanks for the replys but NO WATERCOOLING OR PELTS.
Any ideas?
ALPHA Z series;

The fins are .35mm thin & come in different sizes. Just cut them to size & mod them with a pure silver base & you got the best.
There are also these other ALPHA HS;

Just cut & mod the base for your card. You also now where to get them, same place you got the 8045:D

1coolpc!!!!
Problem is I want powerful cooler and good ramsinks but I don't currently have the time for a mod, I have a WBK38 but the weight is a bit extreme.
I've heard of this big Alpha for it but I haven't any links!!!
I'll post a pic of the ramsinks in a mo....

Here we go,
£26, copper coated with Tin Plating to stop corrosion and tarnishing.
Here (http://www.overclock.co.uk/moreinfo.php?id=401)
Wondering is there a 60MM cooler so I can put a Delta on?
Is this the big sink you were talking about?
ALPHA PAL15U

Bart doesn't have this:o but you can put a 60mm 50CFM DELTA on it if you like.
Silversinksam did an article for the front page, you really need to take a look at the main page more often, on how to do it. Since sam became a senior member he has been acting all superior & stuff so you got to ask him nice for a link to it:D

nick, if u get em i will probably be able to cut em up, i cut up a fop32 to fit a graphics card before
Sam attached one of them PAL15Us on his 8500 & wrote an article about it. He should now were to buy it. Also copper base & aluminum pins should be better than an all copper if done right & ALPHA has. You got to do a little cutting though;

My WBK 38 would fit without any mod so would the Thermoengine but it's to heavy and doesn't look smart (although I don't really care)
The Alpha one looks good, hope it doesn't need lapping or modding....

I was thinking that Icu cooler is good and so's the crystal orb I mean will it make any difference in core speed with that Alpha?????
Bearing in mind I have a card cooler underneath a 80MM 50CFM over the 8500 and 600CFM going through the case.....

Hey Nick,
That copper cooler you have easy access to is a good choice, they sell a similiar model in the USA called the AOC copper IU cooler.
I mounted one on a friends GF3 and its a great cooler(not as good as an Alpha but still damn good)
PS If you decide on an Alpha get the 153 not the 15u as the 153 is better

Thanks, if I can get it in the UK i'll be there!!!
What did you use to cut it? I haven't really got any access to tools.....except the good ol hacksaw!!!:p
Silversinksam
01-15-02, 12:45 PM
Nick it took me less than 30 seconds to cut the Alpha with a dremel.
You can use a hacksaw but it will just take you a few minutes/
Be aware that the copper hsf your lookin at is slightly larger than an Alpha and will need a little trimming especially if its going on an 8500.
If you decide on an Alpha and you can't get it in the UK, pm me and I'll get you one and mod it for you.
