I'm going to be buying 2x harddrives and 2x dvd burners off of newegg for my new build (all SATA). I know that OEM implies that they come with no accessories. Will I need to buy cables for these HD's? do motherboards typically come with enough cables (or at all)?

Retail motherboards usually come with 2-4 sata cables, where as OEM drives won't. Usually whenever you get a retail drive you get the sata/ide cable free with it.

hmm. I guess I'll have to wait and see how many come with my motherboard. Otherwise, anyone have any SATA cable recommendations? brands, etc?

If your motherboard is on Newegg, they have pictures of all the accessories that come with it.

Yeh. It depends on the model and brand of the motherboard. A high end motherboard will come with plenty of SATA cables and what not. Whereas a budget motherboard will come with either 1 or 2 SATA cables plus an IDE cable and that's it.
