I'm looking for an affordable remote to work with vista ultimate media center. Something nice and cheap, but functional, to hold me over until I have harmony money.

Well, I was about to say get the Logitech Harmony One. It's an amazing remote and anyone with half a brain and a little bit of time can set it up. It's probably one of the best purchases I made this year.
