Hey guys this issue has been bugging me for a while now, I have read countless forums about this situation and so far none has helped.

Here's the setup, I have ATT and its new UVERSE, i want to connect my router that ATT has to my linksys WRT54g router. The issue i'm having is both are not connecting. "It seems my linksys is talking english and my att is speakin jibberish "

I have my house set up in a Lan config. My main comp is connected to the Uverse Router and my PS3/360/WII and Second PC is seperated away from the router. I have a single ETHERNET cable connecting the linksys router to the ATT router which is neatfully tucked in the carpet. I don't want 5 wires coming from my main router to the said appliances. So i decided to use a router as more of a diverter or i should say splitter.

Now the issue i'm having, how do you set it up???? I can see the other router, however i'm not able connect online. I think its a block somewhere but not sure what.... :bang head

If anyone can help it will be very helpful, i've had enough of my wife nagging me about long ethernet wires running from my main router to the game boxes and she trips on em. "for some reason she vacuums the wires on accident, destroying the darn thing :screwy:" Please help. I'm sick and tired of buying ethernet cords:(

Correct me if I'm wrong...the ATT is the router supplied by your internet provider....and you want to use your personal router to connect the machines mentioned above...Xbox, WII, P3 and other PC....well set your personal router to act as a switch..

turn off the DHCP of the Linksys, connect the ATT to a lan port of the linksys..do not connect it to the WLAN...like I said you basically want your linksys to act like a switch or AP

You many have to use a cross over cable between the ATT and Linksys..cause I can't remember if it will automatically cross communicate with normal cable...but I think it does

Sell your wife and buy the new model? Just kidding

You probably have both routers providing DHCP. You'll have to choose one of the following setups, depending on what configuration options are available in your routers. I'm also going to assume that your AT&T router is also your modem, but correct me if it is not.

Config 1: You run the AT&T router as a bridge and connect your main PC to your linksys and disable DHCP on your AT&T router, making it provide just the connection to your ISP. Then you jsut enter your username/password into the linksys. You probably have to change a setting in your linksys as well if you want to use the wan port as an uplink port, but I'm not sure on that.

Config 2: You disable DHCP on your linksys, and see if you can use the wan port as an uplink port, otherwise plug it into one of the 4 lan ports. That would make your AT&T router the DHCP provider and your Linksys basically a glorified switch. I think that would probably be the easiest solution actually, that is if you don't have some reason to dislike the AT&T router.

If there's anything else, let me know, I'll be glad to help.

EDIT: AMD'er, he won't need a crossover as I think all network devices after 2002 are autosensing.

If your wireless router has a switch inside(WANport + x LANports) try plugging into the Lan ports of the linksys.

Its the route I took from my smoothie to my wireless and it works flawlessly.
