Intel's PIV support DDR in the new chipsets 845D (B-stepping), VIA plattaform or SiS system.....

PIII with the VIA's chipset Apollo Pro 266 (or 266T) chipset also support DDR. The problem is that PIII do not benefit a lot of using DDR like AMD or PIV.....Because the processor can handle less memeory bandwith (1.06 GB/s if my memory servs my right) than the one that DDR266 can deliver (2.1 GB/s). PIV on the other hand can perform as well with DDR than with RIMMS.

Here are some link of the chipset that handle DDR for the Intel processors:

Intel 845D chipset (http://www.xbitlabs.com/mainboards/intel845d/)

PIV chipset comparisons (http://www.xbitlabs.com/mainboards/pentium4-chipsets/)

PIII VIA Apollo 266 chipset (http://www.xbitlabs.com/mainboards/apollo-pro266.html)

Check around there.....a lot of information is found there.
