i made a deal with my dad, and hes gonna buy me a athlon 1.4 if i use my old hardware (fic az11 and thunderbird 800) to upgrade my moms computer thats running 333 k6-2 rite now, but i was wondering about the 1500+...
wich one has the best overclock?
and wich one is better for the money?
and iv seen the xp be unlocked and it doesnt look hard?
any suggestions?
I've seen the 1.4 having problems overclock to 1.5.. Even with water
The 1.5 on the other hand was overclockable to 1800-1900+ and it was amazing and the new core probably give you some better CPU power especially with a better overclock.

XP all the way. It's a more modern, mature technology...even with a lower clock speed it'll spank the t-bird just like the t-bird does with P3s and P4s. Plus it runs cooler....big bonus if you want to OC. No more waking up with a hot bedroom in the morning is always nice. Unlocking is more difficult in my opinion, but it's possible. I actually used trace tape designed for t-birds and put one of the corner pads on top of the tape so the HSF would ensure that it'd press down and close the bridges. That's why trace tape usually won't work with XP athlons.
My bro has a 1900+ on a FIC AZ11EA....POS motherboard but it runs stable (most of the time). No oc'ing potential there though, but your board would handle the XP fine.
