2 disclaimers:
1) I'm on a Mac.
2) I'm on a laptop (8600M GT)

Now that that's out of the way...I can't seem to get any OC out of my GPU...Any program that I try to use to OC (powestrip, ATiTool 0.27b4, RivaTuner 2.20, whatever) fails. First off, it detects my default clocks incorrectly (they all keep saying something like 330 MHz core/420 MHz mem, when in reality its 475/700...I've attributed this to throttling that's inherent in mobile GPUs, but idk if that's right...). Next, every time I change a setting, the program says that it changed the clock, but it doesn't actually do anything...both monitoring software and a lack of change in my 3DM06 score shows that nothing actually changed. So what's going on?

I'm fairly confident that this is a software problem, not hardware. Plenty of other people with the exact same machine I have can OC this card by at least 20% using ATiTool in XP, so I know that the clocks aren't locked or anything. I'm just trying to figure out if I'm doing something wrong or none of the software out there works well for OCing mobile cards in Vista.
