Glad to see you all again, after all this time the community you helped kick starting is growing.....You have been missed as well as all the people that help me getting started last April. I really miss Murphy's 300 Horses and Morpheous quote ("Oops, I think my brain hit a bad sector"), or Rott-R-us witty comments.....seems so long ago (about 1,000 WU ago, 1 year of computer time, 80 World Wide Ranking places and only 9 months ago)

BTW.....finally, I have joined the top 100 in this wonderful SETI Team.....let's see how long I can remain there.

Mictlan...

Great to hear that you still think about that... I "remember when" too... :D

Nice to see "things" have stayed the same whilst changing :) The site looks nice, team is doing well...

Thought I would crunch some SETI again... Couldn't imagine crunching for a better team :D :D

Crunch on!!!

PS.... and just for you.....

Well, I signed up 3/27/2001 but havent really dont much crunching until lately. Now I have two machines (Tbird 900@918 right now and Celeron 1100@11100) running almost 24/7 and an Alpha 21164 box on the way so my numbers are gonna start coming up. Average time is down to about 7 hours per WU on the 900, about 12 for the Celeron (goes to show you how much better AMD's are huh)

I came online a short while ago. Still a relative team noobie/newby/nubee. ;) Benz and TC are burning up the charts, I'm just glad I haven't fallen out of the top ten yet!

Welcome to this community. Your times with the celeron seems rather low.....are you crunching with the screensaver or with the commandline client?

I you want to increase a little your production you can go the team site (in my sign below) and check the wonderfully writen guide to install the clc with SETISpy and SETIDriver.

P.S. I have posted about 100 times your guide to install SETISpy, SETIDriver and clc.

How does one spell "irony"????

:D I found it necessary to follow the guide to reinstall SETI on my main box :D

You gotta love it!!! (btw, it was nice to see folks have kept it "current" too...)

Right now Im running the clc with nothing else, no Seti Spy or Driver on both machines. Im on a dedicated connection so the clc runs continusouly for me when I file is done it uploads and grabs another dont need to cache units. Is there any other benefits to running driver/spy?

rickdstik...

Well... SETI Driver caching REALLY helps you get the most out of your system (as the server tends to be sluggish or not available at times)...

And SETIspy gives you something nice to look at--while tracking and cataloguing WUs, as well as measuring system performance...

Ahh ... I have them both downloaded just dont use them right now. Seems everything is running OK with just the clc.

On another note, is there anything short of changing the Celeron 1100 out to increase its performance? Im running Windows XP Pro, 256MB Dell 2-2-2 RAM, 40GB 7200 Maxtor HD.

Thanks for some good insight

No problem, my friend...

Take a look here (http://www.ocsetiteam.com/links.htm) on the team site for the TIPS & TRICKS at the bottom of the page... some good resources there for really helping out those sluggish WUs... :)

Good luck!!!

Well, I found a couple that I hadn't tried before, and clocked the 900 to 980 last night and got a time a 6:48:33.1 for the latest WU. Still waiting to see how the Celery does. The 900 cranked out good at 980 all night long, never getting above 40C CPU Temp all night long, with just a stock HSF and a 120mm case fan (similar to the article posted the other day - I used the drive bay covers to put the fan in  - before though even 936 was out of the question, now it looks like maybe Ill try 1GHz (time to unlock this baby) or more.
