I have recently purchased an MSI TV@nywhere Plus to use in order to record TV shows while I'm out and to record shows for my girlfriend when she has to work late. My friend has it functioning in Vista 64bit but I cannot get the included application to work. Vista sees the card, and I can install the BCD drivers for the card as well as the PVR application with no errors. When I try to launch the PVR application it says "Interface not supported" and fails to do anything at all. Vista's Media Center doesn't see the card as it does not have hardware decoding capability.
When I tried to contact MSI, the phone number that they have listed is not in service. The email response that I got basically told me, in very broken english, to uninstall the driver and the application, then reinstall both after rebooting. If that fails to reinstall Vista.
I have tried everything under the sun to get this card to work, including a fresh load on another hard drive and I cannot for the life of me get it to function! :bang head I'm throwing in the towel and I'm looking at another card. (I did try the card in an XP system and it worked, so the card's not defective, but I'm not installing XP on my machine because of ONE new card that I can replace in a flash.)
I'm going to get another card....one that will hopefully not give me any issues and one that has hardware decoding capabilities. I don't want to spend a lot on the card as this is not solely a media box. I can get ASUS cards locally and have had great luck with their motherboards, so figured that I'd give them a shot after asking here for advice or any first hand experience. Here (http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=18&l2=83&l3=724&l4=0&model=2306&modelmenu=1) is the card that I have my eye on. There is a PE6100 version as well that just lacks the FM tuner, which I won't use anyway. Does anyone have first hand experience using this card in Vista Home Premium 64bit? (Either in your own, or in a customer's box?) Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated. If possible, I'd like to go to a PCI-E 1x card, but I'm open to PCI if I can get it for a better deal. :santa:
