I just got my Asus HD4850 and it is paired with a sapphire HD4850
I play WoW and when I was at blizzcon I played at the ATI kiosk and they had dual 4850 and they were getting 120 FPS +.
I'm only getting 70 FPS+
any ideas?
Need help :D
Thanks.

You dont need drivers for 2 separate cards.
If you have them hook up right, you should enable Xfire on the catalyst control panel.

Ok I got it to work but it doesnt seem like its HD, but it says that it is 1920 x 1080. How do I scale the words too? :D
Everything is so small :(

no idea what you mean by HD. If that words are too small you can switch the DPI of fonts on your windows control panel somewhere... or you can lower your desktop resolution.

1920 x 1080 is 1080p...

yeah.
1080p = 1920x1080
720p = 1280x720
I think you are also referring to overscan - but not sure if this is what you mean.. When you use a HDMI cable you get overscan because this is what it does when it play's DVD's / HI-Def telly. The picture is actually bigger than the screen size. You wont notice it normally bu because your startbar is at the bottom it is only half there. You can try zoom out with your TV maybe. or use control panel - but more often than not it doesnt work.
EDIT: Beat me to it wondering soul :)

Ok next question. Why am I getting less FPS in World of warcraft with xfire than the single HD4850

Some games get crappy CF framerates.
Is it just that game? Or does it happen with other games aswel?
Because WoW is so old it was created before crossfire, by almost a year.

So if i turn off xfire I'm just using the one and the other one is the sitting there doing nothing?
EDIT: I turned off the Xfire and it still has the same if not less FPS. Could my CPU be bottle necking?
Ya I only play WoW so i cant really compare.

Wow doesn't take advantage of xfire. If you bought a second 4850 just for wow, you should have done some research first. You could be cpu limited, but it won't matter on wow. 2 4850s makes an awefully nice setup for all of the newer games out, you should take advantage of it.

What motherboard do you have? Some chipsets, like intel P35 only have PCIE 4x on the 2nd slot, so that might be your problem. I have seen some tests where their framerate was LOWER using 2 4850 with 16x/4x bandwidth, than just a single 4850.
This is why, despite the 4850 being super cheap, I have not gotten a 2nd one... I have a P35 chipset with 16x/4x bandwidth

well after a little bit of research it says vista comes with DX10 pre-installed and any updates will come through the windows update.
First things first.
WOW + 1 card = Wow + 2 cards SLI'd or Xfired it makes no differance to use a sli or cross fire in wow.
However this is not the case in most newer games .
2nd . Vista is required for DX10. it also comes preloaded with it .
3rd your CPU overclocked as much as it is will not be a bottleneck.

DX10 cant be installed on XP or prior. Its is only included in Vista.

You cannot run DX10 on windows XP.

You can get hacked DX10 copies for XP, but like the description says, they are hacked. I wouldnt trust it, or use it. Probably riddled with references that arent there (because its not vista) and will BSOD etc all over the place. They dont call it "hacked" for no reason.
Only option is Vista im afraid. But in all honesty, DX10 isn't "all that" anyhow, and most games (fallout 3, NFS undercover, etc...) all make use of DX9 anyway.

for me directx 10 is one of those things like "if it's there, i might as well use it" things.
i find it makes a big differences with particles and flames, though, i feel it could use some work to be more realistic (like smoke parting as you walk through it...)

even the hacked one dont work and are no where near usable, the project was dropped because the people doing it finally realized it couldnt be done basically, the WINE project for linux however is trying darn hard to do it.
You dont need DX10 for DX10 cards to work, you dont need DX10 for WoW or the like, right now there are, as far as i know 0 %100 DX 10 games out there anyways.
