Oh man, I used to play this a lot, sad to say. Actually, I can't remember if it was the red or blue, but I think it was the blue.
Another game I played for hours was Sim City 2000.
Oh, cant forget about super mario brothers RPG though.
Honestly, Blue Version's up there for me too...But the real answer for me is probably something much more common, like FFVII, or Super Mario World.

My favorite game has been Majora's Mask.
I just think about it and remember the beauty of it all. Then DOOM is a close second I guess, haha!

Neverwinter Nights original
playing on the persistent worlds... I lost sooooooooooooooooo many hours to that game it was good times interacting in a total RP environment with dedicated GMs that just kept the world so very alive. I was very sad to see it die off.
R.I.P. Bloodaxe Realms
You have and will continue to be sorely missed
Counter-Strike being a close second

Geeze, um...
Crono Trigger comes to mind for the SNES.
Diablo II: LOD is a maybe
But I think I gotta go with Goldeneye on the N64. Spent many a night playing multiplayer for hours upon hours on end.

DOOM II, Descent, Diablo I/II, Quake 1\2, Pirates, Half Life series, System Shock 2,
So many I can list as favorites. But there's one game that sticks in my head as the game I have hated most in history.
BOND.
Freakin couldn't, and still can't stand that game. It made every douchebag with a playstation(or whatever console it was on, N64 maybe) feel like a pc gamin, first person shootin pro. I couldn't play it to save my life; the controls were slow and sloppy. I was used to fraggin people by the dozen playing quake online. Consoles got one very crappy FPS and, it became the biggest hit ever. You can't argue with a hundred brainwashed console players about how much their beloved game sucks. Let alone, trying to tell them that a keyboard and mouse is better than a gamepad.
On a related note, for years I used the screen name "GravisGamepadPro". Not that I ever used, let alone owned a gravis gamepad pro. But, it made the quakers I fragged awefully salty to think a gamepad user took them down.

consoles is a toss up with goldeneye on N64 and the whole gran tourismo series
I really can't think of one game. I have so many favorites. I'll have to think about it.
I have to go with Diablo 2, Warcraft3, and Final Fantasy 7
Springbok
11-24-08, 06:37 PM
World of Warcraft? :p
Diablo 2 was like physical endurance training for Warcraft.
was return to castle wolfenstein for pc (the multiplayer when it was big). Now it's Left 4 Dead lol.

11-24-08, 08:45 PM
Without counting World of Warcraft.
Chrono Trigger, of course as a few have said. Xenogears, that game is AMAZING. And I am SHOCKED nobody yet has mentioned Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Those are my top 3 games aside from WoW.

Ha! Love that game. That's where I started my first sniper-only server :)
My all-time favorite might have been shadow warrior. God that game was funny.
Original Command&Conquer/Castles II/Age of Empires II/Baldurs Gate II
Oh yeah, Baldurs Gate 2 was AWESOME. Best PC RPG ever.
The original Unreal. I still remember the moment I walked outside after escaping the Vortex Rikers. The outdoor scene was breathtaking.

Ive logged at about 75 hrs into that game.

Skate is awesome... I need to buy that. I gameflyed it but got stuck trying to a double grind on a small park bench.
My 3 favorite games of all time have to be:
the original Age of Empires (must've played that for 2 years).
CounterStrike 1.5 (played for about 2 years also)
and
Forza Motorsport (the original)... logged about 300 hours on that game. I still play the second one pretty regularly.
As I see it now - Left4Dead will be my favorite game of all time soon enough. OMFG this game seriously pwns.
CounterStrike.
There is easily no game that comes close to the amount of time I spent playing CS.
Same here. I used to play with a buddy who ran a BBS back in the day. Before CS we used to play Duke Nukem 3D til 3AM on dial-up networking. haha. Hellafun times.

I've played far too many to have an outright favourite so here are some of the ones I have lost many a day/week/month over.
Pacman - Arcade
Manic Miner - ZX Spectrum
Sabre Wulf - ZX Spectrum
Elite - C64
Dungeon Master - Atari ST
FEAR Combat - PC

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
PAC-MAN
1943 (2 player arcade version), THPS 1 (wow, what a start to that franchise), and sadly BF2, the first real mmo FPS that I ever got into.

Crono Trigger comes to mind for the SNES.
the original doom lol.
Wow, what a trip down memory lane.......It's hard to pick just one.
I'd have to say I logged the most time in Legend Of Zelda: a Link to the past. I've lost count how many times I beat it. I'm going to have to agree with these being some of the greats  Also, was a huge fan of Mega Man X2 ;)
I love nostalgia threads like these. I don't have a single favorite, really. I have memories I cherish equally throughout a wide list of games. These range from cliches to a few games most have never heard of or despised.
PC:
Star Wars: Rebellion
Movie Battles II
Battlefield 1942
Starcraft
Homeworld
Mechwarrior 3 & 4
Mech Commander Gold
Tie-Fighter
World of Warcraft
Console:
Nearly every Mario game, notably Mario 64
Zelda: Ocarina of Time & Majora's Mask
BattleTanx: Global Assault
Diddy Kong Racing
Mario Kart
GoldenEye
And at the time of writing this, there feels like a few in the back of my head that I just can't quite remember yet. But those above are the bulk of what I have spent my gaming hours with from ages 10-21.
Titles that I like the most are in bold.
grumperfish
11-26-08, 07:58 PM
Tie-Fighter
This one.
That or Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries. Netmech on Kali was awesome.
If we're just talking modern games I'd have to go with Medieval 2: Total War for sheer number of hours spent.

Interstate 76. An in-depth car-combat game with a sim. approach, alot like Car Wars. I sure hope someone comes out with a CaRPG thats worth playing at some point in time. I'm tired of the boring, arcade car-combat like twisted metal and vigilante 8(a spinoff of interstate 76).
I want Fallout 3 on wheels.

World of Warcraft, no question.
Unless you did end game content (PVE/PVP), you have no right to say anything about this game. Playing the trial version or playing for a month is less than 1% of the game.

There are just so many. I'll have to say Everquest, simply by virtue that I spent more time playing that game than any other. Not to mention the amount of money I spent over a period of years to enjoy playing it. I wonder, what did Sony do with all my monies?

I seriously miss the grind of running Alterac Valley, with the summoning of ram riders and fighting Loki... gone are those days... the reinforcements run out to fast to do that.
If you are only honor farming the new way can be nice, get in and out.
By and large the Alliance still cant hold water to the Horde for pvp. Can be frustrating at times... to many "all-stars" on the alliance that think they can do it on their own = epic fail for Alliance
Quake 3 Arena!!!!!!!!!!!!!:attn:
I absolutely loved I'76, I've still got the soundtrack and a copy in my desk.
Oh hell yeah.
But I agree there are just waaaay too many games to have 1 favorite of all time.
Off the top of my head Favorite Atari 2600 games: River Raid, Pitfall, Adventure, Pit Stop, H.E.R.O., ....
Commodore 64: Karateka, Pools of Radiance, Ninja, Wasteland.....
And for the PC - forget it! Just far too many and besides we all know them anyways! :p

WARCRAFT 2! hell yeah!
World of Warcraft, no question.

I thought WOW was a great game, but not sure it's one of the greatest of all time. The End game content was exciting the first time around, but when it became an endless game of waiting for the RAID party to form, and farming out BWL for the upteenth time in hopes of getting that other purple you so desperately want just so one of your stats can inscrease by 3.... it got a little old.
PvP was fun though, about all I did after I got EXTRMELY bored with the end game RAIDS. Hell I only did a few of the lvl 70 raids in the Burning Crusade, said screw it, tired of waiting around 2 hours just to get started, and just did nothing but PvP.

I played Battlefield 1942 and the expansion packs for a few years straight. It was my first fps type game too I loved houw you could jump in any vehicle including planes and ships and control them. I loved to jump in planes then parachute down into the opponents' territory and steal their planes.

Console Systems:
1) Final Fantasy 3 SNES (6 in Japan)
2) Shadow of the Colossus
PC/Windows:
1) Medal of Honor Allied Assault (Both single player and multi player)
2) Final Fantasy XI the first 6 months or WoW the first year. And yes Thideras, I played end-game, PVP, PVE, raids, everything and bottom line, I didn't like it after a year. I have a right to say it just like you have a right to say it's your favorite game of all time.
World of Warcraft, no question.

Now see, there you go.... you sound like some of those other members that say "if you don't like such an such game you're an idiot because it's the best evah!".
So what if one person played the trial, 1 hour, 1 month or 1 year? If you tried it, that's all that matters.
If I go and see a movie and don't like it after the first 5 minutes, I don't like it.
I played WOW for about 3 months. It was cool, addictive, fun, loved the color scheme, etc. But I don't think it's all that. IMO It doesn't light a candle to games like Left4Dead or Fallout 3. Otherwise I would still be playing WOW. And besides, I tried LOTRO and IMO LOTRO is better and I found it even more addicting than WOW.

+1 Thiddy - You haven't played the game until endgame. New content is always released and real strategy is required for some of the content. Truly, life begins at 60.....er 70....err 80 yeah that's it ;)
What Thideras is saying isn't that you're an idiot if you don't like it, what he's saying is that if you haven't experienced endgame content, you haven't fully experienced the best part of the game and are making an uninformed and unfair determination.

+1 I have to agree, as anoying as it is, WoW grabs you at endgame, the leveling in WoW is mediocre at best.
my 1st char took months and months to get 0-60 I was in no hurry, sure it was alright but tbh I kinda only played it coz so many m8s did, 60 dinged and all other games disapeared lol. 4 years on, a few breaks here and there yet I am still playing :/ the only other game to keep busy for that long is diablo 2!
EDIT: I am fully aware it isn't for everyone, MMOs are definatly a very different style of RPG, its just unfortunate to see WoWs true colors you need to be max level :/

Ahhh memories.
+1 for xcom and I'76
Also I'm gonna throw in the Dungeon Keeper games. I've played both of those like 5 times over. And Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War... sank a lot of hours into playing that online.

Perhaps, but the way he posted it, I'm sure you can see how someone might take it the wrong way.
