Is an intel Pentium II 75 Mhz overclockable?
The motherboard is a PVI-486SP3 with an intel I486DX4 chip.
The manual shows J22 pin as short for 2X CPU clock and open for 3X CPU clock. Does this mean that if I open the connection I have overclocked? If so, how will I know what I boosted the speed up to?

there are no PII 75mhz chips, you must have a PI, also you are increasing the multiplier from 2 to 3 so your speed should be 75* 3/2=~105mhz...welcome to the forums :)

Man, this is an ancient 486 chip! Overclocking it won't help you much. Are you sure it is running at 75MHz? If it is, I think it is already running at a multiplier of 3x, and 25MHz FSB.

I know the DX4-100 has a multiplier of 4, and 25MHz FSB. I'm not sure about the 75MHz version though.

Guess you can try for 100mhz by inching the multiplier.

Edit: Although I don't think its worth going through the hassle for an extra 25mhz which will not be noticeable.

DX4/100 was 33*3. DX4/25 was 25*3. It's probably a DX4/75, which may overclock to 100MHz. The only Pentium it could be is the P24T which only came in 63MHz and 83MHz flavours.

Of course, the best thing to do with this sort of kit is replace it... Maybe with an old AT Pentium motherboard and something like a K6-2 for next to nothing. Then at least a GUI word processor is useable!
