I bought the kit for the 2000+. Reading the directions it states the conductive grease will not totally dry.
My question will it ever dry? Should I cover it? Forgive me if I am missing something because I don't have the CPU yet so I probably don't know the layout or position of the L1 to the heat sink. I am guessing my volcano will not be touching the L1's correct?

No it will never dry.
Covering it really won't help if you touch it with the heatsink it will still mess it up, so just be careful not to touch it with the heatsink.

Unless you are really careless you won't touch it even angling the heatsink from the core to the cpu edge you won't touch it.
