I bought the kit for the 2000+. Reading the directions it states the conductive grease will not totally dry.
My question will it ever dry? Should I cover it? Forgive me if I am missing something because I don't have the CPU yet so I probably don't know the layout or position of the L1 to the heat sink. I am guessing my volcano will not be touching the L1's correct?

Most who have used these kits have reported good results with them.

No the grease will not completely dry and I don't know of any method to cover them that will not disturb them. You must take care not to disturb it when mounting the HSF.

The L1 bridges are on a plane lower than the top of the CPU core. When properly installed, there should be no interference between the HSF and the bridges.

Do some research and find as many photos of the top of the CPU as you can. Familiarize yourself with the orientation of the bridges and realize how small they are. These are much smaller than the older T-BIRD processors bridges. A bright light and magnifying glass are necessary to help insure a successful project.

Good Luck!
