I was sitting here wondering if there is a way to use my computer kinda like a DVR. So, I came here to ask some questions and found a whole freakin' subforum dedicated to much, much more than just making a overpriced DVR out of my rig!

Any suggestions on a decent HDTV card?

Um...I wanna make sure I actually understand this...I can put a card in my rig and hook up my cable (after my HD-DVR, I would imagine?) and then start to save movies and TV shows on my HDD. Right? Then, I can burn the movies to DVD? Actually, I guess I wouldn't need to burn a DVD because the idea seems to be that I can just use my computer like a second DVR.

I have some research to do....:D

Yea pretty much but you can't record HD channels over cable. To do so you would need this. (http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=564856)

I can record HD channels on my DVICO Fusion 7, just not premium channels.

Just install the card, and connect the coaxial straight into the card in your rig. Do not go through anything else first...no DVR...no set top box...just str8 coax and it will tunein all the FREE channels.

Anything else and you need to heed the Klown's advice.
