I have an 8mbit business connection that would be sweeeet for gaming, unfortunately it can only be used with a wireless usb modem (has a SIM card inside). How can I set this up so that the network card of the PC "outputs" internet access to the xbox?

you need a 2nd network card, then go look up ICS
i dont see why it would only be able to be used with a wireless USB modem... the line from the connection should be able to attach to any router you choose...

There is no line. USB male on one end, dongle on the other, and thats it. The dongle picks up and recieves tcp/ip packets. No phone line or cable involved. You can take it anywhere. You get an internet connection on the PC it's connected to, but you need the software that came with it. Surely you guys have something like this? Think about wi-fi, the kind of internet access you get at hot-spots - it's essentialy the same thing.

I haven't done this in a while, but this is what I used to do was go into properties of the wireless connection, click share this connection, close that. Then I would select both the wireless and wire connections, right click and click make network bridge. It's a little foggy but you may have to bridge them before you can share the wireless. There may be another way, but this is what has worked for me in the past.

Well this is weird, no wireless devices found! Obviously this business doesn't want me doing anything on my account - torrent ports seem to be blocked also. Then again, this is vista and I only disabled windows firewall - there are no other firewalls running - should there be some other service i need to stop?

A wireless connection will have high latency that will make it bad for gaming. You don't need much in terms of dl/ul but latency means everything. Go to speedtest.net and see what it says for your ping. How many ms.

it doesnt see it as a wireless connection. it sees it as a wired connection!
once you're connected, go to connections (if in xp) and then look around to share that network...
the only problem you will have is that your ip that you recieve from the mobile internet provider will be either 192.168.x.x, 172.16.x.x or 10.x.x.x. this will mean you will have to double nat yourself (windows internet sharing will do all this for you, just open the ports, or do not firewall the connection to the gaming machine)
also, watch out if you get an ip of 192.168.1.x (doubt you will) but if you did, then it wouldnt work because of routing
