Someone got a fix?

Hey to all,

Got a problem...in General Discussion they sent me here.

My problem...lost password for seti account.
plusses...I can still get stats with old email.
still u/l d/l work units (899.5)right now!

minusses...changed isp (Lost Verizon DSL):(
forgot password obviously
Is there anything I can do?
Do I have to start back at zero?

I would try the SETI home page and see if they have a "FAQ" area. They may address this in there. They may also have another answer to remedy this.

If you can still receive email at the old address they will email it to you. If not, you're screwed. Same thing happened to me and it states on the SETI website that they won't attempt to recover your password without having the original valid email address due to security concerns.

Sucks...that's alot of WUs.

I pretty much know the penalty for forgetting one's password with seti. I was just hoping against hope.......

I had the same problem when I joined ocsetiteam, but I had run my own mailserver for a while and was able to start it up again for that purpose.

Is that address still in use( whatever @XXXXXXXXX)?

If it is you could try talking them into letting you have/get an account for a short period of time. About the only possibility I know of.

Hay Jon, I did send verizon an email asking them if I could get 1 more email from seti FOR THE GOOD OF HUMANITY. They may go for it but I doubt it. :)

seeker... you might also be able to intercept the email at the pop server... try something like eudora webmail (if you know the POP, email addy & password)... you will have to setup Eudora to check "other" email...

i have done this (hosts are notoriusly bad about resetting accoutn info) and it has worked before for others... If not, PM me & I will see if I still can get a favor out of Berekely... this is doubtful, but Eric Korpella & I used to exchange email infrequently... he might remember my name...

If I go that route you will need to supply me as much info as possible... when the account was setup, email addy & etc... (so they know i am not trying to "scam" them)... OK?
