I have been partitioning for years now from the OS (XP) at clean install….

I boot from the OS CD and from there during setup, I create the required partition and Hit the format button to format and install fresh OS…..

Now, there’s same option to do in vista as well…

So is this the best way and I should continue using the same method?

I am asking this as many people say it’s better to use dedicated partitioning software... Examples like – partition magic

What you all say…?

No difference at all, NTFS/FAT32 is is NTFS/FAT32.

I prefer to set a little space away for programs and downloads, so I can reinstall if I get a virus, then I dont have to redownload everything :P

The only advantage I've seen is that some of the 'aftermarket' software tools will partition a drive after it's already in use, some thing windows won't do.....that i know of. I'm like you, I add my partitions at install; but not everybody plans that far ahead. Most HD manufacturers usually have a partitioning tool available for download on thier sites, but those are usually for initial set up and won't function after the OS is installed.
