I configured my router to have static IP's for all the computers, I updated my motherboard BIOS and LAN drivers and for some reason the problem never goes away, even when we moved.

I'm assuming it's either a problem with the router or a problem with my hardware but there's constant drops in the connection.

Is there even such a thing as a good router? Every router I see, the best rating they have is four stars. It leads me to believe the ratings are thrown off by people that don't know how to configure them.

What can I do to go through steps to see why the connection drops? It happens every 10 to 15 minutes and makes gaming and streaming videos impossible. I can download fine but right now I really want to play Left 4 Dead Versus and I keep getting disconnected every 10 minutes or so. The connection comes right back up, but in Left 4 Dead you can't reconnect to the server during the finale. I have yet to finish an entire versus match because my connection drops and I can't get back in during the finale.

are you using onboard lan? does it drop connection even if you hook up directly instead of using a router?
