attached is a pic of HDtach 2.61. the problem is at just under 7 gigs the transfer rate takes a dive. the set up is 2 10 gig maxtor 7200 rpm drives on a promise ultra 66 card i hacked into a raid card. i recently flashed it to the latest bios and I am using the latest drivers from the promise web site. This is under xp pro, and under win 98 the perf used to be consistant all the way accross the test.
So any input would be appreciated.

Well, looks like you've added yourself to the reoccuring trend that WinXP + IDE RAID = Crappy performance.
Not sure if it's a driver problem or the way that XP handles disk caching but it's very evident nonetheless. Don't know of any fixes if you're using the latest drivers and BIOS for your controller.
You seem to be hitting good burst throughput rates but are having a horrible display of erratic sustained rates. All I can say is that you're not alone in suffering from bad XP RAID performance and if you want better, wait for a fix to become available or go back to Win98 or Win2K.
