Hay guys, some time ago i posted about the setup i am buying and a few people suggested that i get a better radiator.

The only thing i am going to be cooling is a Q6600 G0

What size radiator do i need? 240 or 360?

what would be a good one to buy?

I can afford a triple thermochill one but is it really worth spending that much on a radiator considering im only cooling my cpu?

Any views are appreciated

You don't really need a 240 or the 360, you should be fine with a 160, as i've heard. someone correct me if im wrong. However if i am wrong, than i know 240 will definitely do the job.

If you don't want loud fans than you should get either thermochill 160 or 120.2 or feser x-changer 120.2. If you are planning on using load fans than you get a swiftech 120.2, black ice GTX 120.2, Black Ice Extreme 120.2 or other reputiable radiator.

A Therochill 120.2 or a Feser 220 is the best money can buy for quiet and cool. Next one is the MCR series, the 220 would be enough. If your really pushing the Q6600 with crazy volts and clocks, then you should look at a 120x3 size in any of the 3 brands I mentioned. The Black Ice GTX, also known as the BIX series is pretty good and can pull a lot of heat but they need LOUD high CFM fans. Ohh the PA 160 would be fine, if you can find one.

There are your choices.

I would suggest an MCR220 or 320 with medium Yates. They are good rads for a lot less than Feser or TC and perform nearly as well. If you want slightly better temps, you can use a Feser or TC, but if you don't mind a couple degrees in exchange for $80, go for an MCR.

Thanks for the input but i just managed to buy a Black Ice GT Stealth Xflow triple for half the price the thermochill PA would have cost me

not sure how much you paid for that xflow but the swiftech MCR320 is only 51.99 and works wonders on my q6600 GO.

@ 3.5GHz @ 1.39v i get 25-27C idle and 33-37C load with p95 blend test. if i put small FFT i get 42C load.

You should have gone the MCR 320 route. It's the best rad for the $$. You can use medium fans on them and they work extremely well. The BI Stealth is very thin and sacrifices cooling for it. While a MCR 220 would work, you get better temps from a 320 and it's less than $10 more than the 220. Both are also less than half the price of a PA or Fesser.

Im in UK so the pricing is a little different here.

swiftech stuff isnt really widely available to me.

It cost me £5 more for the triple Black Ice GT Stealth Xflow than it would of for a 240mm swiftech rad. Plus its in blue so it matches the rest of my stuff.

I forgot to mention that im going to add 3 scythe high performance fans to it.

Cant think of the name off of the top of my head but they each push out over 110 CFM of air

I hope you're deaf now, cause if not, you will be. :D

The Swiftech 320 is only $7 US more than the 220.
