Ok I've had this concept in my head for a while that I would really love to get.. I wanna run it by you guys and see what your thoughts on it would be. Pros, cons, etc. I still dont know how I would make it. There may even be something similar on the market that I just havent seen. Gimme your opinions on this. Thanks

This is the basic concept. A tower with a hinged top, that would open up and allow you to put whatever radiator you wanted in it, rather than it being a proprietary thing. Dome shaped base, with 4 knobs on the front, power, and a fan controller. The fan controller, a power supply, and possibly even the pump could be housed within the base. Obviously everything here isn't to scale because the base would probably have to be bigged to hold all of that. If the pump were to be housed in the base, have it where you could open it, and put whatever pump you desired in the base. Have two sets of barbs on the back, an input from the case into the pump, output from the pump back to the outside, then wrap it around to the radiator, then finally obviously a tube from the radiator going back to the machine. Fans could be mounted to the backside of the vertical frame, or the frame could be deeper to accommodate the fans inside of it, attached directly to the radiator. Power supplied by whatever necessary connection to power all of the elements within the base of the unit. The whole thing could obviously be made from aluminum or whatever. The base would also have to be big enough to deter tipping easily. I don't know exact dimensions on what that would require, I just wanted to throw the idea out there.

Has anyone ever done this? Know anyone who COULD make something like this. There are plenty of metal shops in town that I may could get to make it for me, but I don't know if this would be a good design. So what do you guys think?

Well firstly, it looks great! - but your going to need a little more height for your DVD drive. Secondly, it costs a lot of money to get someone to make this for you. A LOT. It would be more cost-effective, better looking and probably more fun if you made if yourself with plastic acrylic. You can buy mobo trays, etc from AC RYAN distributers - they also do mesh and aluminum panels - this seems the best way to do mods.. Google AC RYAN and see if this can help you with your thoughts a little more...

dvd drive and mobo? not trying to build a whole machine, just an idea for an external water cooling solution..

from the sound of it its just a rad holder, not a actual comptuer case. i like the look and the power leds for each fan. i would use a sunbeam fan controller and take the parts from that so you also have a fan controller built in.

from a performance standpoint i see no problems with it as my rad is standing up as many are with no problems.

now if you wanted a thermochill/feser rad with fans on either side you will need at least 5" but if you go with a swiftech a 1 side with fans then not as much room, so if you want this to be universal you will have to make it big and make shims for smaller setups

i have done several " towers" as you have described. i also kept the pumps in the towers as well and used either larger or more pumps in series.
the towers i have designed are not by any means small though and some where designed to run OUTSIDE and just pipe in the leads .

if space is not a problem its very feasable but for those that dont have space its hard to work with

How about something like the MM Pedestal (http://www.mountainmods.com/pedestal-p-491.html). It looks like a better version of what you need with LOTS more room and options.

I really like the tower idea. I say give it a go and see how it turns out.
