didnt know where to post this, but here goes. my dual cpu machine was not stable at all when i got it and temps were about 46c. under load. a few weeks later it ran prime95 for 2-3 days before locking up still at 46c. since then my ambient temps have not changed. now (over a month later) it is running prime95 as i am typing this and has been for well over a week. it can even run 3dmark at the same time as prime95 for days(untill i get tired of it). get this, it is now running at 42c. at 100% cpu utilastion with video. about 40c. just running prime95. i thought my memory was the problem, guess it wasnt. i am using sk6's with artic silver. the machine is not overclocked. obviously one can expect a non overclocked machine to be rock stable from the get go. so it baffles me as to why this system took well over a month to "break in". well, at least it is all sorted out now.
maybe my mistake was to use artic silver on a non o/c machine. all i can do is speculate about what caused this scenario.

anyways, i would like to thank everyone here for all the questions that were answered about this machine.

hmm, i am getting an itch to build a supercooled machine soon.
so i will be around here for many moons to come!

thank you,
sendatooli.

does prime95 use both processors? My brother's getting his dual 1800+ system friday, and we're wanting to test it's stability.

Yes Prime 95 can use both processors. Just open up taskmon and set the affiliate to cpu0 and open up another and set it to cpu1
