View Full Version : Buffalo Firestix ?
This memory I have is kind of old. How fast will these run?

Can I use them on a 680i and overclock an E8400 or do I need to buy some new memory?

Firestix are pretty good, I think they are D9GMH.

Yeah, they are supposed to be D9GMH chips and they should overclock very well, right up until they die.:(
I've been fighting D9GMH chipped ram lately and it's good stuff until it croaks.
So far I've had to RMA the following D9 chipped ram:
Crucial DDR2-800 Ballistix, got single sided replacements a month ago
OCZ DDR2 PC2-7200 Platinum SLI-Ready Edition (http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/memory/ocz_ddr2_pc2_7200_platinum_sli_ready_edition_dual_ channel), got exact replacements a year ago
G. Skill DDR2-800 HZ (http://newgskill.web-bi.net/bbs/view.php?id=g_ddr2&page=1&sn1=&divpage=1&category=3&sn=off&ss=on&sc=on&select_arrange=headnum&desc=asc&no=103), got exact replacements 4 months ago
OCZ DDR2 PC2-8500 SLI-Ready Edition (http://newgskill.web-bi.net/bbs/zboard.php?&id=g_ddr2), presently in RMA process
And I have another set of the G. Skill DDR2-800 HZ I will be RMA'ing when I get in from work as one stick is starting to throw Memtest errors. :(
I have 2 sets of these, both do 1100 with 2.1vDIMM.
Sadly they are only 1gb per stick, makes me sad...

Keep them under 2.3v and you should be OK.
If you want a 2x1GB kit of D9GMH for $25, look here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145165

Thanks for the advice. How'd you get $25? Isn't it $84 ($124 - $40 = $84)
