i havn't got one (yet) as my cheep pump is still holding up but a few questions about the 1048:

can it be submersed?

and

what size are the fittings?

Here's a link to Eheims page about their pumps including body size, which could come in handy while planning. And it is submersible.

It is an either/or on submurgance. It is setup to be submurged, but comes with an intake fitting (13mm, I think) to convert it to inline. The stock output fitting is 11mm. The fittings screw out, so you can replace them.
