Was your modem originally connected directly to your pc? If so, you may need to have the router clone your PC's mac address. In your browser type 192.168.2.1 AFAIK this router has no default password, so just hit submit without entering one. Click the mac address link under the "internet WAN" heading on the left side of the page. Click the clone button, then click apply changes.

I hope that helps.

EDIT: I forgot to say, you have to do the above steps with the computer plugged into the router, and the router plugged into the modem.

Your modem expects to be directly connected like it was before you bought the router.

Before it will give out an IP to your new router, you must remove the power from the modem (unplug the power adapter). Leave it off for 5 minutes, then power it back on while its connected to your router.

Modems are not designed to do DHCP well. So if you disconnect one device it expects to only give out an IP to that one device MAC - you switch devices from a pc to a router with a different MAC and the modem refuses to play ball. Now that you have a router, you can disconnect and reconnect devices without issue, the router is smart enough to see a new MAC address and hand out a different IP address and everything will work. Modems provided by your ISP are pretty dumb devices.

Just do what I said with the modem and it will work fine. Don't mess around with mac cloning or anything, that's unneccesary.

I recommended it because my crappy cable service won't allow the modem to connect to anything except a device with my PC's MAC addy. Thats usually the first thing I have to do when I'm rearranging the network here.

Try what I.M.O.G. said, he knows more about this than I do.

Can you tell me step by step and the easiest way to make my belkin router connect to the xbox 360 or make it wireless.... Thank you.

1) Is your modem cable going into the WAN port on your Belkin wireless router?
2) Is the wired connection going directly from the Belkin wireless router to your PC?
3) If you answered yes to 2, are you able to bring up a command prompt on the PC and ping google.com?
4) The internet light you mentioned thats flashing amber, is that on the Belkin wireless router?
5) Try leaving the modem unplugged from the power for 30 minutes - I've seen modems that didn't play ball with a new router after 5 minutes of being powered off, but worked fine after waiting 30 minutes being powered off.
6) Sephis could be correct - if your modem is only allowed to connect to a specific MAC, then the router will not get an internet connection until you clone the MAC of your PC on it. This is not common, but its possible - you can contact your ISP to find out if this could be your problem. If they say that is the case, we could walk you step-by-step thru cloning your MAC on the router.
7) Before we should worry about the xbox360, we need to make sure your router is working with a PC because it lets us troubleshoot the connection. Once we know the router is working with a PC, the xbox should be no problem.

Right i have rang up my isp which is SKY and because im running my connection on PPPOA which belkin has recommended me but they told me to ring up sky and try and get my username and password... but all they give me is either username: admin password: sky or they just tell me or use my email and my password but i just dont know what else to know anymore things i can do to get my belkin router running???? Thanks.

Alright, Since you have a PPPoA connection, your service provider requires you to pass credentials to the network in order to authenticate you. Normally, your PC would do this when its connected directly to your modem.

Since your connecting thru a router then to your modem, you have to configure the belkin router with your PPPoA credentials supplied by SKY.

It may vary slightly depending on the model of your Belkin, but this guide should be roughly accurate in what you need to do, and it has pictures:
http://www.supanet.com/help/help_broadband/help_wireless_router/news/67123/How_to_set_up_your_Belkin_router.html

Once you do that with the router, your PC should be able to connect thru the router and get on the internet. Once that is complete, you can hookup the Xbox and it should be gravy from there.

I have got my router all working now. But my wireless signal is like 30% because my router is in the conservatory and my xbox 360 is in my front room. So now im going to buy a 10m Ethernet Cable just plug my ethernet cable into my router then plug it in the back off my xbox 360. Then it should work then ????

this is because of the way they negotiate and tftp their config from your isp upon each boot up.
if you want to find out more about it, the config file is called a DOCSIS file.
