I have an old hp XE734 computer. I recently bought ram for it. I bought a stick of 256mb to have it maxed out at 512mb, i installed the ram and windows blue death screen came up saying the bios in my computer isn't acpi compatible, i took the 256mb ram out and replaced it with the old stick 128mb pc100 and it worked. can anyone explain what this could be?

the the pc specs are as follows

cpu-celeron coppermine 735mhz
ram- 256mbx2=512mb pc133 sdram 168 pin used to be 384mb 256mb pc133 + 128mb pc100
chipset- intel i810
video card- ati radeon 9200le pci.

 please help.

Are you sure the PC-133 is compatible w/ that particular board, since it came w/ non-ECC PC-100 originally?

yea, ok when my parents got the cpu it had one stick of pc100 non ecc 64mb ram. then after like two years they bought a stick of 256mb pc133 non ecc and it worked just fine. i later(just around 4 months ago) replaced the 64mb stick with a stick of 128mb just 2 days ago i bought the stick of 256mb and it should be completely compatible as far as the specs of the motherboard state. bios is also aware of the of the ram being there.
