I have had a folder that has been 'split' for quite some time now. by split I mean the folder had become two, the actual files in one and 'copies' that were 0kb each in the other. I assumed that the 'copy' folder contained important information (such as the physical location of the files on the hard drive) and so ignored it. I loaned it to a friend to copy the files to his hard drive, and he thought he was being smart when he deleted the 'copy' folder. I am now left with a 270GB void on a previously full 500GB drive (i.e. the files themselves have disappeared leaving the folder behind). I have been able to recover one of the many files using some file recovery software, and that same software tells me that my recycle bin on that drive is corrupt. The drive in question is separate from my system drive so I have since unplugged it so as to do no more damage. Any help would be much appreciated.
