View Full Version : Enough people ask what kind of hsf to get...
So why dont we have a sticky in cooling where people can put their recommendations and experiences with several hsf's? Everyday it seems I come in here and a new member is asking, "I have this processor, what kind of hsf should I get??"
just a thought...
there is that heatsink test on the front page.....it tells how each heatsink performed
ya, but obviously no one knows aboout it. maybe there could just be a sticky in here about that article.. I'm just saying this because so many people ask in the cooling forum.
Everyone will have different experiences...
Mainly.
But right now newer heatsinks are being released so we should keep tight and wait for the new ones to come out as the new CoolerMaster and Dynatron seemed to have good performance.

that's the problem dude, it seems that some folks just go straight to the forums. That's cool and all, but then they miss out on the huge piles of great information on the front page. I urge everyone to read the frontpage daily!
I bought a Swifty MCX462 from a local retailer, because it was listed as the #1 heatsink on the front page's list. It keeps my 1.4 T-bird at 40*C stock. I think that's too hot to OC, but I need to mod my case so I can put the panels back on, and have more fans. It's loud but it works well.
And if I hadn't read the Heatsink list on the front page, I wouldn't have known that the Swifty MCX462 is a darn fine heatsink.
(ps the MC462A on the front page comes with a rheostat for slowing the fan. The MCX462 I go doesn't come with the Rheostat. Only difference.)
Very true Monster.
First time I came here I looked for the forums right away.

Heheh, I knew 'bout it :)
Still, its not too bad an idea. Let people know what you're running, and how you like it. Posting temps could get odd though, cause most of us would be reporting thermistor temps...in that case, such a "sticky" might lead to inaccurate information. Perhaps instead, a sticky talking about what you have and how the noise is....THATS something we always hear!

The pins are also ribbed plus they were able to fit more compared to the MC462. The base is was also redesigned to solve mounting issues on most MoBos. Rheostats for either fan option are optional.
