Hey
I changed my motherboard from bh6 to 694t pro. I can boot into Win98 with no problem but when I want to boot win2k I get a stopscreen in a "windows has shut down to prevent damage to blahblah" that I should a) check my HDD for viruses (LOL) b) remove any new HDDs or HDD controlers (hmm.. tear em off the mobo???). Same crap if I try safe mode.
So seriously... What can I do other than format c:?
You switched motherboards without reinstalling Windows?
Not usually a good idea. It will work on some occasions but only if the chipsets are similar, which yours were not.
Yes, I would do a reinstall as much as you might hate the thought of it.

Wow. Win2k will almost never work when changing mobos. Any copy of Windows may function after doing so, yet you may run into problems a year down the road because of the mobo swap. It's ALWAYS a good idea to do a clean install after upgrading your mobo.

OK first of all sorry for the confusion I have WinXP as it says in the topic... I have no idea why I said I have win2k later on... I must be getting crazy :)
Anyway thank's for the info, I'll reinstall. It seems really stupid though. There should be an option that you choose if you've changed a lot of hardware so winxp would unload the previous drivers. Lame microsoft :)
