I know it has been done, and that it may have been posted a few months ago, but the "search" turned up nothing. It may have been mentioned as an afterthought during another discussion, but here goes....
How do I make an icon that will open and close my cd-rom(s). Currently I have a cd burner and a dvd-rom that I would like to be able to do this with.
Any help from you prog-warriors?
Thanks!

Well, I downloaded it, and installed it smooth as silk.... but every time I use it I get an error message that the program has had a problem and must now close.... but it opens the drive then closes it just fine, then I get the error message... odd?
I wonder if it is made for a XP and or my specific drive?
Gotta do a bit of research here.... I'll keep ya posted.

I found another one that did not say it worked specifically for XP, but it works like a dream. It finds all CD-type drives and gives you the option to use hot keys or just click an icon.

CDeject... works great. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.:D
LOL I love this program. Sorta wish it didn't make a icon in my tray but with XP you can hide it anyway. With the lock on my burner flashed red a few times when you try to open it manually, pretty cool. I can't fathom why I'd want to lock my cd-roms from people in my family but its nice being able to open my cd drive software-ishly instead of having to (its a lot of work, seriously) bend down to press the eject button.
I'm still looking for a way to do this in C++ tho. Or a way to program this function to a hotkey...they would be sweet.
Oh...and note to anyone who might try out this program. I locked my drives and tested manually and it didn't work(as in, it worked: the drives didn't open:)). Then I disabled the lock, closed the program, and it still wouldn't work. You'll need to open up the program a second time, close, then it'll work. It sorta got me annoyed at first, but all was good in the end. Oh, and this this does NOT include a working uninstall program...
*sigh*
