Well, here's the situation.
Normally, my system stays at a nice toasty 46 degrees C with full load (SETI@Home) and rarely strays from that. However, recently I have seen some rather unusual heat spikes on my system. They are hitting 52 degrees C at seemingly random times. I haven't changed anything inside the box, and all of my fans are running like usual. I usually turn off my box for a time when I see this. I have even backed off my overclock becuase of this.
I use a standard HSF combo, no-brand-name, but very similar in design to most standard cast aluminum HSF's.
Needless to say, this has me a bit worried, I don't want my system to burn out a chip yet. Don't have money saved for the next chip!
