Hi Guys,

I will start off with system spec's

e4400 2mb cache @ 3.45Ghz
2GB ddr2 RAM
MSI 4870 1GB @ stock
p35
HX 620

Well i up graded form a 8800GT and i got a score of 13200 in 3dmark06 and when i tested my new 4870 i only got 13500. I got 8.12 drivers or is my CPU bottle necking it more than i though?

Games:

BF2142 i get about 150 max fps (with frame rate lock off) with 1920x1200 with no filters.

CoD4 i get about 80 - 100 @ 1920x1200

I was expecting more form this card.

Any info. will be good fellas.

Good score for such a slow CPU! Don't forget 3dmark06 is CPu bound at this level!

i got 17543 with a 8600 at 4.5 and a single 4870 at 850/1000

So it is a good score? I was kinda hoping to hit the 14.5k mark at least.

The cpu is the bottleneck of your system.

Im getting 15k with a Qx6850 at 3.4ghz and a 4870 at 800/1100. I think mine is a little low as well.

Do not use 3dmark06 at 1280x1024. All it basically tells you is how good your processor is. Try some demanding games at 1920 between the 8800gt (if you still have it) and the HD4870 and you will see how many fps increase it will improve by.

Yeah, I hope badbonji is right.

Im running my e8400 @ 4ghz currently and have my 4870 @ 790/1100.

I just scored 15034 w/ the latest drivers. Seem's a bit low :/

So if 3DMark need slot of CPU power and I did upgrade to lest say a E8400 @ 4ghz or a Q6600 @ 3.6 would i get much of a FPS boost in games?

What would be the better chose our of those 2 CPU's @ those clocks?

I have a 4870 512mb Ver with a Q6600 @ 3.5.

At stock clocks on the card I got 15,565 on 3dmark06.

On my 8800GT at the same PC clock - I got a 14,197

I have the 4870 512 mb also running at 780/1090
CPU at 3.3 and I get 15.5 to 15.8 K , I thought it would have
done better myself.

Worry about Vantage scores, instead of 3dmark06. That's why we have vantage, so we can compare video cards again instead of CPUs. Or use a completely different benchmark. Getting a new CPU probably will help your fps in a few games, but definitely not all of them.

Vantage I get 9300 or so.

That score looks much better, if its your P score.
