View Full Version : TEC question...
I have an xp1600 oced to around 1700 and i was wondering how big of a TEC i should get?
172 watt or up if you want to do any serious overclocking. Any less and the pelt would act as a heater.
will that take the cpu into subzero temps?
It is really tough to take an athlon to sub zero temps. If you want to be one of the first you can try a 220 watt peltier. I have no idea how to get one here in the US but I have seen them for sale in the uk.
so that will just take me dow to around 20 c? i would be happy with around there, also wheres a good place to get them?
Dangerden is a great place for almost any part. For 220 watt peltiers you will have to go with any place that carries them. For temps I have no idea if you can expect sub zero temps. Temperature really depends on the wattage of heat a cpu is generating. I don't have much experience with peltiers so I don't know what to expect. Sorry about the short posts lately. Its tough to type with a broken shoulder. Everything in my arm is stiff.
Dual 120s are the ticket right now. I believe Danger Den is looking into getting some 220 watt pelts. There is really no need for a 220 unless you are pelting a dual CPU AMD board that cannot take a Maze 2.2.
A single 220 would be more efficient and cost less than dual 120s. Right now since its so hard to find 220s the dual 120s would be great. Colin do you have any idea when dangerden is planning on getting the 220s. I would love dual 120s but I have a maze2-1. I could upgrade my block to a 2-2 and buy 2 120s but the price isn't worth it to me if they will have 220s soon. By the way Colin I missed that PSU I showed you on Ebay. It went for under $90 shipped. I should have bought it but I was buisy getting xrays at the er room.
Bender - Sorry you missed the PSU and even more so about the X-Rays! While I do communicate with Danger Den from time to time (love those guys :) ), my comment on the 220 watt pelt was based on an inquiry. All I know is they are seriously looking into the 220 watt pelts. From past experience, this means business. Be patient.
so then just wait for the 1 220?

220s are more convientent for power than 120s as they are 15V. Also I'm in the situation where 220s are the easiest to get hold of, weird huh ;)
