HDD is Quantum Fireball, 6.8 gig........I get a warning
message from Award Software Inc. (Disk boot sector
is about to be modified) This happens when setting
partition active............ I have never seen this before.

You're about to write an active partition identifier to your MBR.

Yours is the first case I've seen in the forum but that's what it is. Nothing to worry about.

Disable virus checker in your bios. That should solve the problem. Either that or an antivirus proggie.

Thanks for the info......makes sense now....I thought
it was the cause of problem, loading drivers, later on
in the install. Got it sorted out now.

Uhhggggg.... Don't remind me of the warning messages...

Once, one of my uncles (the family computer techie... other than me!) came down from Alaska to spend a week or two with us. Well, I was going to reinstall windows and he decided to watch my back. Formatted the system in front of him, and I was just starting up the setup process when it freezes and has a little black square in the middle of the screen. "Uh-oh" he says. I think your system has a virus on it! Noooo.... I say.. I just forgot to turn off the BIOS virus check. "Well why in the world would you have THAT enabled?!?" he askes in a kinda demeaning tone... There has to be a reason I don't like my uncle very much... :)
