It looks like Gears of War.
Maybe its a hidden mode in GoW2? :)
All this DNF pics and yet nothing big to show us except a few pics here and there. This has to be one of the most expensive games of all time with the dev time being so long.

Hey, at least the DNF developers have the worlds best job security. :D
When this game does eventually come out, I'll be first in line to buy it. I'll have to be. It's been in development so long and is still to this day such a hyped title that I'll have to see it with my own two eyes.
I know deep down in my heart of hearts it will be made of failure and suck, but I'll still have to see it.
Ninja Edit: Also, are we sure that those pictures aren't GoW or something? They ripped off the Locust pretty heavy there.

woot i'll sell my soul for a new duke nukem game !
let the bidding begin !
That's all they can come up with after what? 20 years? I hope gameplay > graphics...it's gonna need it.

They've just not been working on it much at all. It's not that it's taking a ton of effort... but that the devs are unwilling to finish it and randomly work on it a little bit here and there.
I think this game should hold some kind of world record for the longest development evar.
In all seriousness, for how long its taking, I'm expecting a game that is Blizzard quality. I'll be right behind Oni in line for this game, as a TF2 spy... :D

I'll beat you all there, by the time it does release, time-machines would be a thing of the past.

I think many will buy it just to own it. Who cares if it sucks, its a game that's been in development so long..it will be a collector's item for eternity.

Those aren't game play pics, and so they probably don't mean a thing.

The 2nd and 3rd are in-game pics. You can clearly see the polys and jaggies. It's the typical Unreal3 engine look... turn some AA on and the visuals are still comparable to all of today's games except like two.

I don't think so, at least not by what I mean by in game pics. Why would you see Duke Nukem's face from the 1st person perspective? Same with the last picture. No crosshairs or HUD or anything. They are probably just cutscenes. IMO.

Eh, the UI is easily toggled in any game so they probably did that for screenshot in the last one. In the 2nd it's a cutscene most likely, so I guess I meant the 'in-game' definition differently; like I meant that it isn't a CG movie, but it's rendered with the game's engine.

I have an unnerving irk that the game is going to be downright terrible.
But I am really hoping for a blockbuster.
Edit; it actually looks more like the Doom3 engine than the Unreal 3 engine ;)

I'd say it's the other way around, GoW was inspired by Duke Nukem, since the designs we see here aren't too far off from the original DN3D.

yaya, pre-rendered images that will look NOTHING like the game or even close

Oops I just checked, and we were both wrong. It actually uses a heavily modified version of the Unreal Engine 2. Looks more like UE3 though, I guess they really maximized the crap out of UE2 to make it that way.
And I dunno what all the 'those screenshots are fake' thing is all about... do people mean they look better than it will be or worse? Cause those graphics don't look like anything out of the ordinary for today's typical FPS. Why is that so completely unbelievable?

You guys never saw the game play? I saw a 20 second video of the in gameplay, it well....loooks weak as hell. For 12 years its nothing mind blowing. They re-did the engine so many times its amazing. They've had like 3 different versions of this game. All in all I do believe it will be an epic fail. But yes I will still buy it.

Are you sure it still uses the Unreal Engine 2? It's changed engines more often than I change underwear.

Hello, @ pic no.2 :p
these graphics are shabby. by the time they finish the game, they're gonna need to do the graphics engine again.
and i can't think of any link between the 2nd picture and the 1st and 3rd picture.

Lets face it... Duke nukem games were hardly renouned for cutting edge graphics... hell Duke Nukem 64 still had 2D animations for the enemies!! but still it was an amazing game... i reckon this will be too... not for the graphics but for the sheer crazy and ridiculous storyline, mad weapons (c'mon the shrink ray and duke's almighty boot) and general setting!!

not saying it is fake but the game wont look that good, they never do
game companies take concept drawing and do high res renders and release them and people think they are in game, or they do images renderd by the game engine, but not real time and release them again, as high quality as they can make it, and in the end i have never in ....12 years seen a single game that looked even close to the pre-released images that come out.

every couple years? ;)

Last time we talked about this the developers were playing WoW in they video of them in their studio.
They just keep teasing us, "Look were working on it, expect to finish it next year".

It used to be a lot worse. I remember when I first started buying games for the computer, and shopping for the games at Best Buy, I got burned a few times by thinking that the pictures on the back were representative of the actual game. Usually they were pictures from cutscenes, and highly enhanced ones at that. I would buy the game, take it home, and discover that it was nothing like what was being advertised.
They still do the same crap today, but the in-game graphics are just better, and so the difference is less.
lol, I started hearing about this game about the time that I got into computers, what 1999 I think lol. My hair has literally turned gray waiting on this game. Since they took so long to develop it and release it, I will probably do the same in buying it ....
