Since alot of you guys seem to have such cool temps in your systems i was wondering is it possible to have a nice to reasonably cool system *without* going bonkers and sticking 500 fans in your case, all strategically placed to allow for the perfect airflow.

I'm trying to find a nice balance of sound/noise and I am prepared to do a bit of case cutting here or there. Can anyone recommend a good setup that will keep my baby reasonably cool without going overboard?

I see a lot of people with way too many fans around here. I have a 120mm panaflo 69 cfm intake (with a filter=less cfm), the same fan at 7V for exhaust, and an 80mm panaflo 40 cfm also as exhaust..plus psu fan.

simple and effective, the other day I had on of my temp probes out of my case and it read the same as the one inside my case. So I dont see a need for 10+ fans that will make your computer fly if you put wings on it, not to mention make it sound like it could.

Is this (http://www.overclockers.com/tips461) too bonkers for you?

Cut couple of holes and pop some 120 on it. Do the 7v mod so it not too noisy. I myself have 12 fans in my watercooled server case. Yes i am crazy
