Are these Bose Companion 2 good speakers?

These are the first series. I just wanted to know if they are still good if not I'll need to buy a new one.

Will a sound card increase the quality of the sound with these speakers?

Not particularly.
If they were half the price they might qualify as acceptable but they are not and they don't.

I can only get 2.0 speakers. What are some good 2.0 speakers?

Get these (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7705307&st=insignia+bookshelves&lp=1&type=product&cp=1&id=1138085354138) and this (http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=300-958) to power them. The t-amp is a very high fidelity amp...even though its only 5 watts per channel, those Insignia speakers are very sensitive and will be plenty loud. I use a T-amp with some large Klipsch bookshelves and they sound excellent, far better than any computer speaker you can get.

OP how much money you looking to spend?

I agree with barton that for 2.0 your best bet is amp/speakers. I'd suggest a better amp and better speakers though...

As I'm sure would he.

On a budget, I wouldn't. I think you underestimate the T-Amp and Insignia speakers... unless you get a deal on some older used equipment, you'd be really hard pressed to do better for under ~$400.
