I was running my Crucial PC2100 RAM DDR with my 1Gig Tbird running at 1400mhz on a Gigabyte VTXH with the standard 133mhzFSB. My computer started a memory dump when loading win2000, it was taking forever so I restarted it and it wouldn't post anymore. The Gigabyte VTXH died and am getting it exchanged for an Epox 8KHA+.

I then tried the Crucial DDR on my Epox 8K7A and Duron 750@1Ghz system and it wouldn't post unless I give maximum voltage to the RAM using the 133mhz bus to get it to post but it would kick out of benchmarks such as 3Dmark2001 and was very unstable. Lowering the FSB to 100mhz fixed these problems but the Crucial still needed maximum voltage to run stable. I also tried the Micron OEM with my 8K7A and it works fine.

Is this a sign of damaged RAM?
Would Crucial warranty cover it?
Any ideas what could have caused this?

Thanx

Send it back, it sounds like it is having problems. Besides, "lifetime warranty" means just that. I believe you will have no problems getting a replacement from Crucial, especially if it is not physically damaged. Just tell them it no longer works (which is true at stock V and speed) and get a new one.

That's a strange problem, but if you didn't do anything special to the RAM before it started acting funky , then you get to experience the pleasure of RMAing with Crucial (not sarcastic).

Thanx guys for the quick response, its good to know Crucial is easy to deal with, when I get my new stick of Crucial and my 8KHA+, you can bet your bottom dollar I'll be cranking the FSB and voiding my warranty:p
