ok i want to compare temps with MY 1.4 since i added the swifty mcx-462 as im unsatisfied with my temps.. with an ambient of 28 deg C i get around 44-45 degrees ,and thats without an overclock! damn crap if you ask me!
ive taken it off twice to make sure its seated properly and im sure ive administered the arctic silver properly (man ive done it 100's of times now!) so let me know what you get............
cheers

I'm using a t-bird 1.2 o/c'd to 1530. I don't remember the model # but I have the big Antec tower with 400 watt psu and 5 80mm case fans. I also have a whopping no-name 12 dollar hsf on this bad boy. Temps are stable at 52 for the cpu and 25c for the case, with the door off the cpu goes down to 50c with a 1.79 Vcore. Could be you don't have adequate case ventilation, not that I think 45 is a bad number by any means. If you get sick of it and want to get rid of that swifty let me know.
Your only going to raise temps when you raise voltage, you can o/c and have your temps remain the same as long as you don't change voltages.

Lutawicasa?
what kinda case coolin you usin?
thats pretty good if you ask me ,good stuff!
also what is the ambient as ive always thought it as the same as case temp?
as i speak my SYSTEM TEMP is 22 and CPU is 37

Case cooling consists of 2 120mm and 1 80mm intake, 2 80mm and 1 120mm exhaust plus dual fan in psu. Sounds a little like a hovercraft :D
I consider ambient to be the general environment my rig is in. Thus, room temp is 23c and temp reads inside closed case 28c.

ok hers an image of where my case is mounted (youll notice its inside my desk so the heat maybe wont dissipate well )
and maybe i should add more fans as im using the 120mm 70cfm in the front as intake and another in the top as an exhaust, enermax psu also has 2 fans so thats about it apart from my swifty with the delta 68cfm fan?
tell me what you think

so that might give you an idea of the desk its in and this one shows the fans and notice there isnt much space above it even though its pulled out for the pic:and hey tell me about hovercrafts LOL!

That is a sweet looking rig. I couldn't hide that under/inside a desk. Ya might consider mounting an exhaust fan in the desk itself(end panel by the rear) bet that would improve the airflow somewhat.

1. Comparing your load and ambient you have the best temps so far. You had a 23C amb and 37C load and someone else same amb but 41c load. I think that's pretty good. The only thing that's going to give better results is water.
2. Comment on your position. As per above that situation is shrouding the system. More importantly you are going to pick up dust and fluff in a big way from the floor. I would make a plan to move it.

thanks guys.
ok i like lutawicasa's idea of a fan in the desk itself! maybe just the trick.
and tiger, actually those temps werent under load ,just as we were speaking so browsing the forums i guess wouldnt classify a load i think (just to clarify the situation)and ive been confusing ambient with case temps, also the 23 case temps were recorded at about 3am here in australia. its been raining here lately so the weather has cooled somewhat) but once the weather heats up again the temps endup at high 20's for case and mid 40's for cpu, this is under load but without overclock, i feel this isnt great considering the jump from the WBK. i hope to be corrected ;) :burn:
cheers!
LutaWicasa seems to have a pretty good setup. 1.68 at 41c is pretty good air cooling. I agree with him in that the case can't breath closed up as it is. Opening in the back of the desk? How about a side window (fancy) with a fan. That will show off the side of the computer and give a good fresh air flow in (might be kind of cool looking. Of course you would have to add a case fan (right over the cpu). I am running water so it's really not fair to post mine.

cool thanx for the idea

***BUMP***
Having the case in the desk like that will raise the case temp up about 4 to 5c. I know it does with my case and desk. And those temps are not bad for that speed and air cooling.
