What is a DSL line conditioner and what does it do?
Can you connect a cat 5e cable to the socket labeled DSL and have internet?

when I red your frist sentence the first thing that popped in my head was: who is your father and what does he do? - arnold
anyway it could be the filter that removes the internet signal from the telephone line allowing you to use a phone without the "old-connecting-to-the-internet-sound"

I dont get it
it was a quote in one of arnold's films, Kindergarden Cop
"who is your daddy and what does he do?" was the line, he was looking for a particular child that he was assigned to either protect or find more information about his father or along those lines.

so its basically an ADSL splitter - just like we all use because we're not using that crappy adsl-gmt multi adsl and phone signal line
you plug it in the wall, then you plug your adsl router in and it gets a signal, and connects, and at the same time you have your telephone line plugged in and because its using the 0 - 4khz range it doesnt interfere
