it seems that after upgrading my firmware, the password under user name on the setup tab has changed

it used to be ********

after the upgrade its ****************

the original password still is used to access my e-mail, so its still registered as that with the ISP

and by the way, before i noticed this, i contacted my ISP because my outlook express was telling me my password was wrong and it wouldn't let me check my e-mail

but now its letting me with the same password?

but the ISP kept asking me if i was connected to the internet, and i was, but they said it showed i wasn't logged in

i am using the BEFSR41 router

so, i wonder if the password in the router config is the problem with everything?

but i hate to try the old one and it not work because then i'm screwed.

anyone have similar problems?

First off, everytime you reflash a Linky everthing goes back to defaults....

You password on that thing is now admin. No username, just leave that blank, and use admin as the password.

This should get you in. The first thing you do is reset the username and password. Then put all your connection settings in because they have gone back to default also. Your ISP is probably right, you may be connected, but I would be willing to bet that you havent been authenticated.

ya, i know all that.

admin gets me in but for some reason in the space where you enter password, its already filled up, from one end to the other

and same goes for the tab were you change the password to get into the router config

the guy at linksys sent me a newer firmware update soon to be released

and i reflashed it and it was fine

they told me that they think it has some bad code in it

they have had complaints about it

thanks though

What did the new firmware fix? Other than the filled passwords you were seeing?

i think it was nothing more than basically the new firmware update with a patch installed

nothing new to my knowledge, did not see a difference ecept it works better
