I plan on building my own case as a special project in school. What materials would be best to use for cooling purposes, ventilation, etc.

Could you be a little more specific?

Most cases are made out of steel, but more and more of them are made from aluminum because it is light, and it supposedly helps with cooling.

Or wood.

Metal cases conduct heat, so they are best for cooling, but the effect is minimal. I have even seen cardboard cases.

Steel or Alum is best for cooling. It also depend on how much you want to spend and if you have the right tools for the job.

Make one out of copper it may cost a bit and turn green but it would be cool.

A titanium case would be pretty neat, but way too expensive.
