I bought an acer laptop with that tax rebate last year for like 550, has all the power i needed. I bought the thing basically because i never know when im going to have a working desktop, im one of those people who push all there hardware to the limits so basically every 3 months or so im out a pc for a few weeks waiting on some kind of part (maybe i should join the benching team lol)

Anyways some times it feels a little more slugish than others never really looked cared to much but tonight i was reading some stuff at anantech and i was curious about a stability program they use called occt, so since my desktop is priming right now i decided to check it out on my laptop. To my surprise my athlon tk dual core chip is running at half the speed most of the time (fixed that via the windows power settings) but when you load the thing the chip gets to like 70c in less than a min and the program stops. Im in a 19c ambient too. Guess all those blue screens last summer were from heat lol.

Those laptop coolers look like a crappy fix. Has anyone taken all the heat pipe crap out of a laptop and replaced the tim? is there some kind of better internal cooling solution?

There's not too much in terms of cooling you can do for your laptop unfortunately. There's just only so much space and it's not like there is an easy market for 3rd party internal coolers since laptop makers all vary in how they set up their cooling and placement of the chips on the board.
Unfortunately, using a laptop cooler is pretty much the only solid option.
I've replaced the TIM on my Acer, it has helped a bit but it wouldn't sound like it would do much in your situation.
