My new DVD drive is benchin real low... Sandra said that it works at 9x cd speed... its an Afreey 10X DVD... The support site says to make sure dma is enabled and it is as far as I know... I'm kinda new to XP soooo...:beer:

Where is it reading on the disc? If it's the inner tracks, it doesn't go as fast. On the outer tracks, the disc can cover more ground per rotation, so that's why it's closer to 10x there...

it could be as pingmaster said and its just reading one of the inside tracks so its slow. It could slow it down by that much quite easily. Try testing with a CD that you know is full. Also, sandra isnt much for drive testing. Try Nero CD speed, it should give you more accureat results.

Well then its working fine. A 10x DVD is a 32x CD right. It ends at 32x just like its supposed to. Sandra was just smoking crack.
