I'm having a problem with my dvd drives. One is a Plextor and the other is a Samsung lightscribe. The problem is that they do not work.

In Device Manager I get this message for both drives......."Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"

I have tried to uninstall the drivers and then use Add Hardware plug and play to install the devices.

I have tried to load new drivers from the respective companies but when I try to run the installation program for the driver I get the message "No Drive Found".

When I click on "My Computer" my hard drives show up but the dvd drives do not.

I also have Everest Ultimate and Everest recognizes the drives and displays info about them.

Any ideas on what to do?

The drives were previously working fine. Just one day they weren't working. I am running Windows XP Professional SP3.

If you list your Hardware Computer Specs it would help a great deal.

Have you got the DVD drives on the same sata channel as HDD ,, try changing the DVD sata channel to different one from HDD

I got it fixed. I had to delete the upperfilters and lowerfilters registry values and reboot. Problem solved.

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my post though. As always this place is most helpful.
