"ATI’s newest chip, the R300 will be launched along side nVidia’s newest GeForce4 chipset. This card may be what ATI needs to gain some ground in the video card battle after losing so much market share to nVidia over the past year.
Rumor has it that the R300 will host 128MB DDR RAM, AGP 8X, DirectX9 T&L, 350MHz core clock as well as an 800MHz memory clock. The chip will be fabricated using ATI’s .15-um fabrication process. This means this is going to be one hot card.
ATI’s new flagship is expected to cost less the GeForce4 and if ATI can get come up with some quality drivers, it should be faster too. That is a big 'if' however because ATI has struggled in the past to come up with such drivers." - XP-Erience.org Article
